The IDI and BYD organise an event to showcase the Balearic Islands to captains during METS

The IDI and BYD continue their international promotion of the Palma International Boat Show and the Balearic Islands from the perspective of tourism and industry, this time dropping anchor in Amsterdam for the METSTRADE Show.

More than 1,650 exhibitors from 55 different countries congregated over the last few days at METS. Where more than 20,000 visitors toured the halls of the world’s largest trade exhibition of marine equipment, materials and systems. This year’s show actually exceeded the figures of previous years. There were also 250 new companies that exhibited their products for the first time.

The general conference and programme were larger than ever at METSTRADE 2019. This edition included educational seminars organised by the NMEA and the Superyacht Forum, which opened its doors on the Monday before the fair.

The shows programme organised for this year was also extensive. METSTRADE is always a highly social event, with many meetings designed to bring people from the sector together. For this reason, the BYD and IDI took the opportunity to join these events and organise a different kind of day.

Captains and professionals from the nautical sector enjoyed a stroll around the canals of Amsterdam, admiring the beauty of this Dutch city and relaxing after visiting the fair. The tour stopped at Pont13, an old renovated ferry with views of the canal that has been converted into a restaurant. Guests sampled a complete menu prepared with fresh products, while sharing their impressions of the fair with colleagues from the sector and the occasional anecdote about their experiences in the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera). They were even given the opportunity to test their knowledge of the islands with a fun quiz on the most emblematic places of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
