36th PALMA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

From April 27th to May 1st 2019 at Port of Palma

The 32nd edition of La Ruta de la Sal is about to launch:

La Ruta de la Sal launches tomorrow, the offshore regatta with the highest number of competing boats in the Mediterranean – 200 yachts have registered this year, with close to 1200 crew.  As per tradition, La Ruta de la Sal features three different starts, all of which finish at Sant Antoni de Portmany in Ibiza.  The regatta’s three routes will depart from Port Ginesta, Denia and Puerto de Andratx.

The Barcelona version of La Sal features 102 vessels crewed by around 500 sailors, and the start is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00, at CM Port Ginesta, in Barcelona. The Denia version, which will set sail tomorrow at 14:00h from RC Náutico de Denia, will feature 97 boats crewed by 560 sailors.

The Mallorca version will launch tomorrow at midday at Puerto Andratx, with the boats setting sail for Sant Antoni de Portmany in Ibiza, passing the islands of Tagomago, Formentera, Es Vedrá, Bledas and Conejera to their starboard. Theirs is a total voyage of 103 nautical miles. The Mallorca version will account for 24 vessels, crewed by approximately 125 sailors.

The Mallorca version is the only La Sal route which takes place between two Balearic Islands, which is why the Balearic Institute for Business Innovation, which depends on the Ministry for Employment, Commerce and Industry and is the Palma International Boat Show’s organising entity, has created the ”Trofeo Entre Islas” (Inter Islands Trophy), an award which will be presented to the overall winner of this western version of La Sal next Saturday.

In addition, for the first time in the regatta’s history, on Sunday the 21st of April at 12:00 a coastal regatta of around 8 nautical miles along the Bay of Sant Antoni de Portmany will be held. All the boats taking part in the 32nd Ruta de la Sal will be able to compete together in the “Regata Inshore La Sal – Trofeo Ajuntament de St. Antoni”.

This will be the third year in which Palma International Boat Show takes part in the organisation of La Ruta de la Sal, and it is a proud sponsor of the Oeste (western) start.
